The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says there are many different reasons to get excited about spring at State Parks. Many campgrounds within the parks will be turning on the water and opening for the season this week. And for those who prefer staying at one of the state’s many cabins, those too will be opening soon. A simple check to determine if a campground is open can be done by following the link included below. A link to making reservations can also be found here. Spring flowers are coming into full bloom now. Red Haw State Park in southern Iowa is known for its redbud trees, which are now blossoming, but there are different varieties of plants, flowers and trees to see at any park destination. Area residents are also being encouraged to register now for summer camps. Springbrook State Park near Guthrie Center will be holding their summer camp June 7 through June 11. Campers will learn about wildlife, engage in outdoor recreational activities, explore the woodlands, wetlands, prairies and other natural habitats in the park and learn more about its unique history. There is a $150 fee for this camp and registration can be done through the link also included below.
