According to a recent Iowa Hospital Association report for 2019, Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) has provided nearly $5 million in direct payroll income and $7.3 million in indirect impact on the local economy. This includes nearly $3.5 million in retail sales and $207,500 in sales tax. MRHC also offers a variety of community education events, trainings and clinics, such as CPR and AED training, blood drives, wellness and blood pressure clinics, concussion testing at the high school, walk-in flu shot clinics, Kid’s Health and Safety Fairs, Senior Fun Day, Women Supporting Women and Medicare Enrollment. “We are proud to share that in the past year we provided nearly $40,000 in donations and community health improvement services to benefit our local communities,” says CEO, Linn Block. The healthcare center supports the IKM-Manning School Foundation, the American Cancer Society and National Child Safety Council as well as community organizations such as Main Street Manning, Manning Hausbarn Heritage Park, the Rotary, Boy Scouts of America, Wolf Care and Little Hawks Childcare Center. Over the past year, MRHC also provide $314,000 in charity care and served over 800 people through those efforts. This is also known as uncompensated health care, which is provided for free or at a reduced cost to people with limited income who would otherwise be unable to pay for treatment. “We are grateful to be able to make such an impact on our local communities,” Block says. “It takes all aspects of a community working together to be vibrant and strong. During the past year, when we faced the pandemic, we were especially grateful for the support that community members showed to our healthcare workers and employees.”
