An Odebolt man remains in custody at the Sac County jail without bond following an extended incident with law enforcement Sunday afternoon. According to Sac County Sheriff, Ken McClure, authorities were notified earlier in the day that 33-year-old Joshua Paul Davis had allegedly committed domestic abuse assault but his whereabouts were unknown. Davis had been in communication by telephone with family members and law enforcement and had threatened he would force police to shoot him. As a precaution, the 400 block of Locust Street in Odebolt, where Davis’ home is located, was closed to the public while deputies tried to determine if Davis was there. At approximately 3 p.m., family members confirmed he was there and convinced Davis to exit his home. He was taken into custody without incident. Authorities then executed a search warrant and seized several firearms from the property. Davis was booked into the Sac County jail and charged with domestic abuse assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor, and obstruction of emergency communications, a simple misdemeanor.
