East Sac At Kuemper
Kuemper 5
East Sac 1
Kuemper earned their second win of the season improving to 2-1 while East Sac fell to 0-5. The Knights controlled the ball a good portion of the match but the Raider defense was able to force a lot of long shots. Kuemper used good ball movement to find a few seams and goals. A young Raider team felt they played their best match of the season, moving the ball into their offensive 3rd often and forcing Kuemper to be patient on offense.
It was a defensive battle early with the Raiders packing things in tight and Kuemper being really strong on the backside as well. The Knights adjusted to the Raiders strategy and were able to get goals from Simon Wagner at the 16:30 and 11:57 of the 1st half. They looked to be pulling away when Maximus Burnett scored with 11:10 left in the half to make it 3-0 but Cole Babe answered for East Sac scoring with 10:43 left in the half. It stayed that way into the 2nd half. Burnett added his second goal early in the 2nd half and Kuemper led 4-1 with 34:00 left. The Raiders defense made it tough again and held Kuemper scoreless until Wagner added his 3rd goal of the match with 3:45 left.
Simon Wagner finished with 3 goals and a pair of assists for Kuemper. Max Burnett added a pair of goals. Aaron Meister had an assist and John Mayhall had 1 save in goal.
Cole Babe had both shots on goal for East Sac and scored a goal. Nick Crabb was really good in goal all night and finished with 12 saves.
The Knights head to Treynor on Thursday while East Sac hosts Sioux City West.
