Boys Track Results Thursday, April 22nd

Tory Feldman of Carroll High and Gavin Smith of Audubon At Drake Relays

Tory Feldman finished 7th in the Long Jump with his best jump on his 3rd jump of the day. He felt really good taking off on the jump and exploded in the air landing with a 21-05.75. The jump put him into 2nd place for a while and he entered the finals in 5th place. His first attempt of the finals was a good jump and he felt like he had a chance to make a run but he injured his knee slipping on the board on his 5th attempt and wasn’t able to make his final two attempts.

Gavin Smith ran in section 1 and lane 2 in the 400 Hurdles. He ran well, finishing in 56.55. He finished in 11th place overall. He was .44 from finishing in the top 8.

Carroll and Kuemper At Tiger-Knight

It started out as a beautiful night for track but some clouds rolled in and the wind picked up but the kids did a nice job competing and the meet went off well. Harlan and Gilbert controlled the boy’s side with the Cyclones claiming the title with 129 points. Gilbert finished 2nd with 100 points followed by Lewis Central with 83 and Atlantic with 80. Kuemper finished 6th with 53 points and had some really good showings including winning the Distance Medley and getting a pair of 2nd place finishes from Max Meyers in the hurdle events. Carroll competed without Tory Feldman who was injured at Drake earlier in the day and wasn’t available to participate in the meet. They finished in 7th overall with 45 points but had a few really nice events. Zach Dirkx brought home a championship and the 4×400 really ended the night with a championship as well.

The Kuemper Distance Medley ran well all race and handed it off to Michael Pottebaum in really good shape and he took over from there. Max Meyers started the race and Tanner Higby ran the other 200. Garrett Christensen kept them in great shape in the 400 as they finished in 1st with a 3:53.52. That would be the only title for Kuemper but Max Meyers was 2nd in the 110 Hurdles in 16.81 and 2nd in the 400 Hurdles in 58.95. Michael Pottebaum finished 3rd in the 800 Meters in 2:12.36.
