Where there are alarms there are not always criminals, as an officer with the Jefferson Police Department learned in a call on Thursday night. At approximately 11:44 p.m., a resident reported they could hear an audible alarm at the Dollar General store. When the officer arrived, he found all of the doors to be secure, but a keyholder was notified and also came to the business. Upon entry, they found that balloons were being moved about by the air handling system and they were responsible for setting off the motion alarms. The balloons will not be charged.
