Girls Track Results for Thursday April 22, 2021
Drake Relays Girls Results
The 2021 Drake Relays returned for the first time since 2019 and featured Carroll and Kuemper girls track athletes.
Kenzie Schon of Kuemper qualified for the shot put event and did well at Drake. Her first throw was her best as she threw 37-6.25. She stayed in the top nine after her heat was completed, but some second heat throwers were able to sneak into the top nine and knocked Schon out of finals qualification. Ultimately, Schon threw well enough to finish in tenth place with her first throw of 37-6.25.
Shay Sinnard of Carroll qualified for the long jump event and ended up winning the event. Her second jump in the first round was 18-0.25, giving her the first place spot after the first round. She advanced to the finals sitting firmly atop the rest of the jumpers. Sinnard jumped 17-3.75 in the finals, but her 18-0.25 stood as the best jump of the event and she was crowned the 2021 Drake Relay long jump champion.

Carroll and Kuemper at Tiger-Knight Invite
Carroll and Kuemper both participated in the Tiger-Knight Track Invite Thursday. Carroll finished in second place with 112 points. Kuemper finished in seventh place with a final team score of 30. Atlantic won the meet with a final team score of 137. Both area teams did well in their events, grabbing some top five finishes at the end of the day.

Paton-Churdan and Glidden-Ralston both participated Thursday at West Central Valley and finished in the top five in multiple events. Glidden-Ralston finished in seventh place with 40 team points. Paton-Churdan finished in ninth with 21 team points. Vanessa Koehler for Glidden-Ralston won the 100 meter hurdle event with a time of 17.36. She also finished in second place in the high jump event with a jump of 5-00.00 and fourth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.81 and 200 meter dash with a time of 28.10. Glidden-Ralston’s distance medley team, composed of Savannah Bennett, Morgan Tuel, Alexia Nelson, and Tiela Janssen, finished in second place with a time of 5:08.00. For Paton Churdan, Danielle Hoyle won all of the throwing events, winning the shot put with a throw of 36-04.00 and the discus event with a throw of 110-09. Carmyn Paup did well in the long jump event, getting sixth place with a jump of 13-02.25.Team Standings

Ar-We-Va and IKM-Manning finished close to each other in team standings at the OA-BCIG Coed meet Thursday. IKM-Manning finished in fifth place with a team score of 74. Ar-We-Va finished right behind them in sixth place with 65 team points. Ridge View won the meet with 178 team points. Both teams finished the day with multiple top three finishes. Morgan Hanson of IKM-Manning finished in first place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:47.84. Alexa Ahrenholtz won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.86. Bianca Cadwell wrapped up her individual events with two second place finishes, the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.66 and the 800 meter run with a time of 2:47.93. Ahrenholtz and Cadwell joined Maddie Snyder and Amber Halbur in the sprint medley relay where they finished in second place with a time of 2:03.40. Jamie Hausman of Ar-We-Va finished in second place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.35. Hausman, along with Hannah Kraus, Jadeyn Smith, and Kora Obrecht, won the Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 2:01.15. Obrecht and Smith both had successful individual days. Obrecht won the long jump event with a jump of 15-02.50 while Smith won the shot put event with a throw of 35-06.50.Team Standings
