It has taken a little longer for the City of Carroll to hire and place a new Code Compliance Officer, but Rick Peugh of Farnhamville is on the job effective today (Monday). City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says he brings a wealth of experience to the newly-created position.
Pogge-Weaver says the city is in the process of getting rental property owners registered and implementation of new processes for rental code compliance and inspections. Even though they anticipated being able to announce a new hire for the position in February, he says they have not really fallen behind at all.
It is estimated that rental code inspections will only account for about a third of the responsibilities for Peugh. He will also be working on other areas of code compliance and inspections, such as those on sidewalks.
One of the first big sidewalk inspection projects will be included in reconstruction planned on Adams Street.
Other compliance issues that Peugh will also likely be involved with include those such as snow removal and the summer lawn care codes. Peugh will officially be introduced to the Carroll City Council at their first May meeting, Monday, May 10. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more details on rental housing code and inspection open houses as those are scheduled.
