Carroll took an early lead at the Fieldhouse on Monday but Kuemper rallied to lead at half and then held on to win the Friendship Cup. The win improved Kuemper to 3-3 on the season and snapped a 2 game losing streak. Carroll falls to 1-6 and has dropped 6 straight.

Kelin Jones scored on a nice play, sliding a shot past John Mayhall to give Carroll a 1-0 lead 4:26 into the match. It stayed that way until late in the half when Simon Wagner scored the first of his two goals to tie the match at 1 with 11:38 left in the half. Sam Steinkamp made a nice play on a run out getting the ball past Treyton Goins with 2:15 left in the half and Kuemper led 2-1 at half.

Wagner scored his 2nd goal early in the 2nd half putting the Knights up3-1 with 31:37 left. It stayed that way though both teams had a few chances. Mayhall did a nice job in goal for Kuemper and finished with 5 saves. Treyton Goins shifted to offense to start the 2nd half and Nolan Mohr went in as goalie and made a couple nice stops on breakaways. Goins rotated back in as goalie about halfway through the 2nd half. Carroll High cut it to a 1 score match but there wasn’t enough time left as Deng Nyock scored with 0:05 left.

Simon Wagner led Kuemper win 2 goals while Sam Steinkamp added the other goal. Wagner also had an assist as did Nate Overmohle and Noah Bauer. Mayhall had 5 saves in goal for Kuemper.

Kelin Jones and Deng Nyock scored goals for Carroll. Treyton Goins added 8 saves and Nolan Mohr finished with 3 saves for the Tigers.

Kuemper heads to Panorama on Tuesday, Carroll will host Boone.
