Carroll Resident And Professional Shooter, Kolby Pavlock, Competes at World Speed Shooting Championship

Carroll resident and competitive shooter, Kolby Pavlock, participated in the World Speed Shooting Championship earlier this month in Talladega, Ala., finishing near the top in multiple divisions. Pavlock has been a member of Team Volquartsen for several years and moved to Carroll in 2020 to join their product development staff. The multi-day event featured several hundred of the best shooters from across the globe. Pavlock explains how competitors are scored.

Pavlock competes in rimfire and centerfire categories, which are scored separately, with the fastest shooters clearing some strings in under two seconds. Pavlock, who is originally from Boise, Idaho, started hunting when he was just three years old and started shooting competitively at 12. That experience showed at his most recent contest.

He finished third in Carry Optics, fifth in Open, third in Rimfire Pistol Iron Sights, seventh in Rimfire Pistol Open Sights and fifth in Rimfire Rifle Iron Sights. Pavlock graduated from the College of Western Idaho last May with a degree in Machine Tool Technology and now helps Volquartsen Firearms with designing and bringing new products to market. Pavlock also recently began mentoring with Carroll Area Shooting Sports (CASS), and he hopes to see the enthusiasm around speed shooting continue to grow.
