Gas Prices Remain Steady, But Still More Than A Dollar Higher Than Last Year

While regular unleaded fuel prices at Iowa’s gas pumps remained relatively stable over the past week, they are still being reported at more than a dollar over this time last year. As of Wednesday, AAA Iowa is reporting regular unleaded averaged $2.79, which represents an increase of $1.31 over 2020. The national average is $2.89, up a penny from last week. Retail diesel fell a penny to a statewide average of $3.01 and is $.81 cents higher than a year ago and $.07 lower than the national average. Wholesale ethanol rose $.17 cents and is currently priced at $2.33. Natural gas is the only heating fuel reported on a weekly basis through the late spring and summer months and is up $.28 to $2.96 per MMbtu.
