The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved a Denison company’s bid for roof repairs at the Fricke Building, but included specific stipulations. The County’s Maintenance Director, Zach Niehaus, presented the four bids, with two coming in very close to each other. He explains the subtle differences between the one presented by Elevate Roofing of Denison and For Sure Roofing of Des Moines.
Niehaus says he has calls in to both companies. He is asking Elevate to add the half inch of insulation and price that out for an apples-to-apples review and he is checking with both on their availability. Their start time could be critical based on the condition of the current roof, according to Carroll County Auditor, Kourtney Irlbeck.
Niehaus did say both companies do good work, but if the timeline is right, his preference would be for the Denison company to be awarded the bid as their proximity would likely make it easier to get warranty work completed or to have any other issues addressed quickly. Elevate also offered a 20-year warranty on the work versus a 15-year warranty from For Sure Roofing. The board approved the bid from Elevate if they can start work as soon as possible. If there are time frame discrepancies, the board will revisit the subject. According to Irlbeck, there has been a total of $40,000 earmarked in the current budget for these repairs.
