An early goal gave Gilbert the lead and a late goal wrapped up a hard fought game in which Carroll played outstanding soccer before falling to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Carroll defense gets better every game and played well at home again. Gilbert scored at the 38:35 mark but couldn’t beat the defense until nearly the final buzzer. Treyton Goins finished with 23 saves as he was busy but kept coming up big. Carroll had a few chances with good looks from Clayton Weitl and Chase Ragaller but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Gilbert salted the match away and scored with just 0:02 remaining in the match to improve to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

The Tigers took 14 shots on goal but were shutout fifth time this season. Carroll will be back in action on Saturday as their game scheduled for Thursday against Harlan has been moved to Friday.
