Kuemper Boys Tennis Defeats Hawkeye 10 Tournament Champions Denison-Schleswig Thursday; Audubon Falls to Clarinda

The Audubon Wheelers continued to grow and learn Thursday in their loss to Clarinda. Audubon were able to pull out 10 set wins against the Cardinals, but lost 48 sets. 

 

Connor Christensen and Jake Lauritsen won a set in their singles matches and bounced back to win four sets in their doubles matches. They eventually fell 8-4. Eli Deist and Tyler Rugaard also won four sets in their doubles match, but ultimately fell 8-4.

Lance Regehr of Clarinda won 8-0 over Eli Deist of Audubon

Nathan Brown of Clarinda won 8-0 over Tyler Rugaard of Audubon

Luke Baker of Clarinda won 8-1 over Connor Christensen of Audubon

Connor Pullen of Clarinda won 8-1 over Jake Lauritsen of Audubon

 

Doubles

Kale Downy and Sant Dow of Clarinda won 8-4 over Eli Deist and Tyler Rugaard of Audubon

Cyrus Laurence and Connor Pullen of Clarinda won 8-4 over Connor Christensen and Jake Lauritsen of Audubon

 

Denison Schleswig at Kuemper

 

The Kuemper Knights were able to edge out Hawkeye 10 Champions Denison Schleswig in doubles matches to win their meet Thursday. The Knights split matches in singles, but were able to get great wins in doubles to ultimately win the meet in overall matches. 

 

Sam Janssen gave the Knights their best win in singles, winning 10-2. Carter Soppe played just as well, defeating his opponent 10-3 in his singles match. Also in singles matches, Gus Collison had a bit of a battle, but he won the match 10-6. The Knights lost their other three matches, meaning the meet was to be determined in doubles matches. While Kuemper dropped their first doubles match 10-5, their last two doubles teams made up for it. Sam Janssen and Balke Pottebaum brought their A-game to their match, where they won 10-3. In the final match of the day, Jarred Hausman and Gus Collison were victorious by a wide margin, 10-1. 

 

The Knights complete the match comeback and win the meet 5-4. Kuemper wraps up the regular season when they take on Harlan on Friday, May 7th at Harlan.
