Changes have recently been approved for parking at the Carroll Recreation Center. When the center closed their east-side entrance, this pushed traffic to the west parking lot entrance. However, some patrons had requested the continued ability to utilize the east side doors for specific reasons. Select exceptions for persons with disability qualifications have been made, allowing them that access. In order to more easily accommodate this change, the Rec Center presented those individuals with a key fob and designated two parking stalls along Vine Street, south of sidewalk, to be labeled for use by persons with disabilities. The majority of members are now entering the building through the main entrance, which has also brought rise to other parking concerns. Director of Parks and Recreation, Jack Wardell, says events at the Carroll Athletic Stadium and at the Rec Center tend to fill the lot more quickly. To give more convenient parking to members, the center has been given permission to restrict the first row of stalls, those closest to the building. This is now marked as “No Stadium Parking” and is reserved for Rec Center member use only.
