Carroll had a hard fought match against North Polk where the Comets got the slight edge Tuesday. Both teams in the first half seemed to have a difficult time netting in any goals. The first half would end with a 0-0 tie. Carroll’s Treyton Goins played well defensively as he recorded 16 saves in the match.

Carroll and North Polk entered the second half with a scoreless game. North Polk eventually found the back of the net with 38 minutes left in the contest. Carroll was able to net a goal of their own, but offsides was called, negating Carroll’s goal. North Polk held on in the second half to their 1-0 lead in the end to win the game. PHOTOS: Sponsored by Roselle Mutual Insurance   The Knights started off the contest strong by playing a great offensive game with communication and great passes. Kuemper got on the board with seven minutes off the clock thanks to a goal by Max Burnett. One minute later, Creston netted a goal of their own, tying up the game at 1-1. Those would be the only two goals of the first half, despite both teams getting good looks on each side of the field.    Tied at 1-1, Creston grabbed their first lead of the game with minutes off the clock in the second half to make it 2-1. Creston would grab another goal with 28:15 left to play thanks to a penalty kick to increase their lead to 3-1. Noah Bauer thought quickly enough to save an own goal from happening, but because of the clutter of Knights near the net, Creston netted another goal, making it 4-1. Creston held out for the remaining 16:20 and left Carroll with a 4-1 victory.    Max Burnett netted the lone goal for Kuemper as Noah Bauer ended the contest with six saves. The Knights fall to 6-10 on the season as Creston improves to 9-4. Kuemper continues their season on Thursday, May 13th against Lewis Central at the Kuemper field house.
