Ernst Says Creation Of Republican Roadmap Begins With Definition Of What Is And Is Not Infrastructure

As Congress reviews President Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan, many Iowans are citing structural deficiencies in state bridges and roadways that need addressing. While the Republican caucus does not dispute the need for updated infrastructure in that area as well as in broadband access, they are also questioning the inclusion of items that most Americans find do not fit within an “infrastructure” definition. U.S. Senator, Joni Ernst, recently applauded the creation of a Republican Roadmap for true infrastructure improvement. She says they have worked to make it perfectly clear what infrastructure is and is not and have targeted the needs for all Iowans and Americans in a bipartisan path forward to improve our roadways, bridges, locks and dams.

She says this bipartisan approach is derived from a plan passed out of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee last year on a vote of 21 in favor and none against.

She says this is a deviation from President Joe Biden’s proposed infrastructure plan.
