Audubon, Coon Rapids Bayard, Glidden Ralston and IKM-Manning At Audubon- Class 1A State Qualifying Meet
Vanessa Koehler of Glidden got the area off to a good start winning the High Jump at 5-2. She qualifies for State as the District Champion. Alexa Ahrenholtz of IKM-Manning took 2nd in the High Jump also at 5-2 and could still qualify for state. Glidden Ralston continued to roll with their boys qualifying in the Sprint Medley winning in a time of 1:37.68. The team consists of Karter Kennebeck, Carter Soyer, Carter Scott and Brigham Daniel who held off a charge from an Alta-Aurelia runner in the last 50 meters. Alexia Nelson of Glidden Ralston became their 3rd event qualifier winning the 3000 Meters in 11:45.29. She was able to pull away from Morgan Hanson of IKM-Manning the last 200 meters. Hanson finished 2nd in 11:52.63 and could still qualify for state. Quentin Dreyer of IKM-Manning took 2nd in the 3200 Meters in a time of 10:18.36 and could qualify for state. The Audubon Girls 4×800 ran a strong race in a stacked field that could send 3 teams to state as they all ran their best time of the season by nearly 20 seconds. The Wheelers took 3rd in 10:18.74 with Mattie Nielsen (who had a great opening leg), Grace Slater, Kodie Sporrer and Hannah Thygesen who closed the race strong running for time. IKM-Manning Boys 4×800 would finish 2nd with Hunter Smith, Connor Keller, Akim Duot and Quentin Dreyer and could qualify for state based on time as they ran a 8:44.24. Audubon Boys took 2nd in the Shuttle Hurdle with Joel Klocke, Ethan Klocke, Brandon Jensen and Gavin Smith. They could qualify for state based on time with their 1:03.23. Audubon Girls Shuttle Hurdle qualifies for State with Madison Steckler, Mattie Nielsen, Madison Burr and Katelyn Nielsen. They took 2nd in the event in a time of 1:11.13 but Nodaway Valley was DQ and Audubon will advance to State as District champs. Vanessa Koehler of Glidden Ralston qualifies in her 2nd event winning the 100 Meters in 13.48. Brigham Daniel of Glidden Ralston won the 100 Meters to keep a good night going for the Wildcats. He has qualified in two events so far. Daniel ran a time of 11.28. Audubon Girls Distance Medley has a shot to qualify for state on time as they took 2nd place in a time of 4:24.38. The Wheelers ran Madison Steckler, Abigail Zaiger, Mattie Nielsen and Hannah Thygesen. Elizabeth Zaiger of Audubon is a State Qualifier in the Discus. She won the event with a throw of 112-05. Brigham Daniel of Glidden Ralston made it a 3rd event at State by winning the 400 Meters in 51.79. Coon Rapids Bayard Boys 4×200 advances to State as Omarion Floyd had a great close to edge Audubon in the last 20 meters. The Crusaders advance to state with Easton Hays, Gabe Obert, Tanner Oswald and Floyd in 1:33.81. Vanessa Koehler of Glidden Ralston took 2nd in the 100 Hurdles and will have a chance to qualify for state with her time of 16.79. Gavin Smith of Audubon should qualify for State in the 110 Hurdles taking 2nd place with a 15.53. Hannah Thygesen of Audubon improved her time in the 800 Meters and took 2nd place in 2:27.49 and should qualify for State based on time. Vanessa Koehler of Glidden Ralston with a strong close wins the 200 Meters edging past Abigail Zaiger of of Audubon. Koehler is an automatic qualifier and Zaiger will have a chance to qualify with her time. Koehler ran a 27.55 and Zaiger had a 27.64.
Brigham Daniel of Glidden Ralston made it 4 for 4 by winning the 200 Meters in 22.64 to advance to State in all 4 events on Thursday. Gavin Smith of Audubon was 2nd in the 110 Hurdles and Joel Klocke of Audubon was 3rd in the 110 Hurdles and both could qualify based on their times. Smith ran a 55.91 and Klocke finished with a 57.25. Grace Slater of Audubon finished 2nd in the 1500 Meters in 5:31.68 and Alexia Nelson of Glidden Ralston was 3rd in 5:34.96 and both could qualify for state based on time. Quentin Dreyer of IKM-Manning was 4th in the 1600 Meters in a very tough field and may qualify on time with a 4:46.13. IKM-Manning Girls 4×100 had a nice run and took 2nd place and may qualify on time with a 53.60. They ran Amber Halbur, Bianca Cadwell, Abbigail Nieheisel and Alexa Ahrenholtz. Audubon Girls 4×400 ran a really strong race getting strong runs by all 4 girls. Mattie Nielsen moved them from 4th to 1st and Hannah Thygesen made a great move in the final 100 to win it and qualify the team to State. The Madison Steckler, Mattie Nielsen, Abigail Zaiger and Hannah Thygesen, they finished in a time of 4:15.06.
Audubon Boys clinch a trip in the 4×100 with a 44.93 and 1st place finish. The Wheelers ran Ethan Klocke, Matthew Beisswenger, Gavin Smith and Joel Klocke.
