The Breda Fire Department responded Thursday evening to a report of a small residential house fire. Firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of North Main Street at approximately 6:02 p.m. Upon arrival, crews discovered the siding on the exterior of the home had ignited and spread to nearby wood decking. Fire Chief, Dan Wiskus, says a neighbor helped to keep the fire contained using a garden hose and prevented further damage. An initial investigation determined a discarded cigarette had ignited a bucket by the door and spread to the house. No injuries were reported, and Wiskus says the interior avoided any significant damage.
