CCSD Board Of Education Meets Monday With Focus On Five-Year Property Maintenance Plan

Property maintenance will be one of the major focuses of the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education during their meeting scheduled for Monday night. Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, says one of the first items on their agenda is a public hearing on a proposed $250,000 roof replacement project at the high school.

Three companies have submitted bids, and their proposals will be presented Monday. If one is deemed satisfactory, school officials will consider approval. Berlau says Building and Ground Supervisor, Jeff Dvorak, and Technology Director, Craig Rowedder, will also be presenting to the board regarding expected needs in their departments.

Berlau adds he is pleased to report negotiations have concluded with the Carroll Educational Support Association (CESA), which represents the district’s bus drivers, teacher associates and other similar positions. The parties have agreed on a 2.9-percent total package increase, and the board will vote Monday for formal approval. They will then move into administrative reports, which includes updates to the preschool instructor and middle school counselor job descriptions and routine board policy reviews. Berlau says this will be followed by reports from Director of Business Affairs, Gary Bengtson.

The board will then enter closed session for a regularly scheduled superintendent evaluation and will adjourn once completed. The Monday, May 17 meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in Adams Elementary. The full agenda and details on how to attend remotely can be found included below.
