Margaret (Marge) Reiter of Carroll

Margaret (Marge) J. Reiter, age 87, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Regency Park in Carroll.

     A public visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.  A prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M. during the visitation with Pastor Ryan Roehrig of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll officiating.

     A private graveside service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Carroll City Cemetery.

     Margaret was born February 7, 1934 in Owensville, MO, the daughter of Raymond and Jean (Pryor) Aytes. Marge grew up in Neosho, MO, where she graduated from high school on 1951. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephpne Company in Kansas City as a long distance operator. She married Marvin Thomas Reiter on October 4, 1952 at the home of her grandparents in Neosho, making their home in Kansas City until moving to Denver, CO in 1956 where Marvin worked for Standard Oil and Marge was a homemaker raising their children. The Reiters moved to Carroll in 1967 and then again in 1972 after being transferred to Ankeny for 3 years by Amoco Oil Company. Marge worked at St. Anthony Regional Hospital for 20 years in Admitting and Insurance. Upon their retirement, Marge and Marv moved to Branson, MO, enjoying lake life and learning new hobbies. Marge returned to Carroll in 2004 after Marv’s death in 1994.  Marge enjoyed reading, knitting and basket making and spending time with her family.

      Marge is survived by three children: Peggy Reiter of Carroll, Tom Reiter(Sheryl) of Carroll and Marvin”Skip” Reiter of Boone; four grandchildren: Kara Rowedder(Craig) of Carroll, Melissa Hoffman(Jason) of Ankeny, Krista Koch (Nick) of Arcadia and Nicole Garrett of Nevada: 13 great grandchildren; her sister Helen Osbourn of Carroll; a brother James Holt(Lori) of Neenah, WI; and several neices and nephews.

     Marge is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin in 1994, her son Michael in 1978 and a great grandson Eli Rowedder in 2016.
