The Kuemper Knights almost completed a comeback in the second half, but came just short against West Sioux Thursday night. West Sioux started off the scoring in the first half as they got ahead 3-1 by halftime. Kuemper’s lone goal in the first half gave them motivation to come back in the second half.
Kuemper started to mount a comeback as they tied up the contest at 3-3. Aaron Meister, Blake Boell, and Simon Wagner all scored for the Knights in this contest. West Sioux netted another goal with 10 minutes left in the contest to grab the lead back. Kuemper was unable to find the back of the net and ultimately fell 4-3 in their substrate match. Kuemper’s Noah Bauer had six saves in the game while Nate Overmohle had an assist. Simon Wagner, along with his goal, had an assist as well. Kuemper’s season ends with a record of 7-12 as West Sioux improves to 4-12.

East Sac at MOC-Floyd Valley (Class 1A Substate 1)

The East Sac Raiders wrapped up their 2021 season as they fell to MOC-Floyd Valley Thursday night. MOC-Floyd Valley started off the contest with four goals and held a 4-0 lead into halftime. East Sac’s Luke Wernimont defended the net well as he recorded 21 saves.
MOC-Floyd Valley continued in the second half by scoring five goals and ultimately winning 9-0. East Sac ends their season with a record of 0-15 as MOC-Floyd Valley improves to 8-8.

Carroll at Glenwood (Class 2A Substate 8)

The Carroll Tigers competed Thursday at the Class 2A Substate 8 playoffs and saw their season come to an end. Carroll began the contest by getting on the board first. Emmanuel Jioklow at the 33 minute mark scored in the first half and gave Caroll a 1-0 lead. The Tigers held on to their 1-0 lead throughout the entire first half. Treyton Goins guarding the goal had a great night as he had 13 saves including a spectacular penalty kick save.
In the second half, Glenwood took over and netted five consecutive goals within the first 20 minutes. Carroll struggled to find success and ultimately fell to Glenwood 5-1. Individually, Jioklow and Jireh Gallegos each had two shots on goal, Kelin Jones, Victor Esquivel, Isaac Lo, Will Meiners, and Nolan Mohr each had one shot on goal. Carroll finishes the season with a final record of 4-13 as Glenwood improves to 9-7. Carroll Head Coach Gary MaGill commented on the effort from his players saying he is proud of their technicality, willingness to get better and working together as a team.
