Authorities have released the official report regarding a two-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. Highway 71 near Breda on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 2:28 p.m. south of the intersection with 110th Street. Their investigation revealed 27-year-old Darion Dru Bradley of Arcadia was traveling southbound on 71 in a 2006 Dodge Durango when he fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle then collided with the rear driver’s side of a southbound 1999 Pontiac Firebird, driven by 46-year-old Tamie Dawn Ryken of Auburn. The Bradley Dodge then veered into the oncoming lane and overcorrected, entering the west ditch. The SUV rolled several times and struck a power pole before coming to rest upright in a field facing north. Bradley needed to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Damage is estimated at $12,000 to the Bradley Dodge, $4,000 to the Ryken car and $5,000 to the power pole owned by MidAmerican Energy. Bradley was cited for failure to maintain control and Ryken for driving with a suspended license.
