The Carroll Police Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents and took a highly intoxicated individual into custody over the past several days. The first accident was reported at approximately 11:36 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of W. 13th Street. Forty-eight-year-old Shannon Anschutz of Scranton was eastbound on 13th in a 2015 Jeep Renegade. At that same time, 20-year-old Vanessa Bauer of Carroll was backing out of a drive in a 2014 Ford Focus and struck the passenger side of the Anschutz vehicle, causing functional damage to both. Bauer was cited for unsafe backing. The second accident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Saturday and involved suspected minor injuries. Officers responded to the scene in the 1300 block of N. Grant Road and found that 18-year-old Dashaun Lyons of Carroll was southbound on Grant on a 2012 Moto moped. Lyons lost control and crashed. He was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries. And a traffic stop performed at approximately 3:03 p.m. Saturday landed an Omaha, Neb. man in jail after recording a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) more than three times the legal limit. Officers pulled over the 2001 Pontiac Aztek at Grant Road and U.S. Highway 30 and arrested 50-year-old Kenneth James Jones for second-offense operating while intoxicated. Jones’ BAC was .255.
