Carroll won big Tuesday as they entertained Denison Schleswig in their 2021 home opener. The Monarchs opened up the scoring by running in their first batter to get up 1-0. Carroll responded in a big way as the first five batters were brought home, giving Carroll a 5-1 lead. Denison Schleswig swung the momentum back to their side as they scored three runners in the second inning, to bring the Carroll lead down to 5-4. Chloe Gallegos, who went 4-4 in this game, would crush a home run in the bottom of the second inning to bring home Alyssa Brant and give the Tigers a 7-4 lead.
Carroll turned on the jets in the third and fourth innings. Carroll’s Camryn Schable shut down Denison Schleswig in the top of the third, recording two strikeouts while walking one batter. In the bottom of the third, Carroll ran through their entire line up and added another five runs off six hits in the third inning, leading 12-4. Alyssa Brant pitched in the top of the fourth and recorded a strike out while the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth closed out the game with four more runs to win 16-4 in four innings.
Carroll improves to 1-1 on the season as Denison-Schleswig falls to 0-2. Carroll is in action next when they travel to take on the ADM Tigers on Wednesday, May 26th.

The East Sac Raiders started off the 2021 season at 1-0 as they won a high scoring affair against Manson NW Webster Tuesday. East Sac got on the board first as they got out to a 3-0 start in the top of the first. Shelby Gerry for East Sac pitched well in the bottom of the first, only allowing one run and keeping the Raiders on top 3-1. The Raiders continued to fan in runs as they brought home two more runners, giving them a 5-1 lead in the top of the second. In that stretch of scoring, Bree Boeckman got her first home run of the season and brought home two runners. East Sac and Manson NW Webster would go run for run in the third, fourth, and fifth, recording three, five, and no runs respectively.
The Raiders entered the 6th inning with the 13-9 lead. The final three innings saw both teams score two more runs, ultimately giving East Sac the 15-11 win in this high scoring contest. East Sac starts off the 2021 season at 1-0 as Manson NW Webster falls to 0-1.
The Raiders are in action next when they travel to take on Cherokee Washington on Thursday, May 27th.
