A Coon Rapids man has been charged with misdemeanor assault following an incident Monday evening. A Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 30000 Block of 335th Street near Coon Rapids at approximately 11:09 p.m. Witnesses told law enforcement the victim approached an intoxicated individual, identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Ray Lambirth, and suggested he go inside the house or call for a ride home. In response, Lambirth allegedly locked his arm around the victim and jabbed his finger into their eye. He then threw the victim to the ground while continually pressing on their eye until two other individuals pulled him away. Lambirth pled not guilty during an initial hearing Tuesday and was released on his own recognizance. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, June 24.
