Class 2A Boys State Golf Tournament Results Friday, May 28th
Kuemper and Tyler Brandt of IKM-Manning At Lakeside At Fort Dodge
Kuemper entered Friday in 6th place and finished the day still in 6th place though they did gain 4 strokes on Boyden Hull who finished in 5th. They came into Friday 8 strokes out of a top 5 finish. Thursday was windy and rainy and Friday brought more wind, rain and colder temperatures. West Branch held off Grundy Center for the title shooting a 644 to Grundy Center 645. Lake Mills was 3rd with a 646.
Mitchell Badding was the top finisher for Kuemper, taking tied for 12th with a 158. Badding had 4 birdies, 11 par’s a 7 bogeys for the tournament. Maverick Schwabe played well for his first appearance at state. The freshman shot a 168 with a 85-83. Schwabe had 7 par’s and 11 bogeys over the 2 days. Junior Tyler Auen was right behind Schwabe finishing in a tie for 29th place with a 169. Auen shot a 89-80. His 80 on Friday helped him finish with 10 par’s and 8 bogeys. The final Kuemper golfer on the scorecard was senior Jack Tiefenthaler who tied for 35th place with a 86-86 for a 172. Tiefenthaler had 1 birdie, 6 par’s and 12 bogeys. Carter Putney of Kuemper finished with a 174, Benicio Lujano added a 189.
Tyler Brandt of IKM-Manning entered Friday tied for 29th place with an 85. He finished with a 175 after the senior shot a 90 on Friday. Brandt tied for 43rd place and had 6 par’s and 12 bogeys.
