A Boone man was arrested and charged for driving impaired with a small child in his vehicle. The Jefferson Police Department reports a traffic stop was conducted at approximately 7:16 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of North Elm Street. During his interaction with the driver, 28-year-old Luke James Blakeman, the officer detected signs of impairment. A field sobriety test was conducted and Blakeman was taken into custody on charges of first-offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and open container, a simple misdemeanor. Blakeman was later released on his own recognizance.
