A Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) pharmacist has received national recognition, being named the Health-System Pharmacist of the Year. Director of Pharmacy, Jen Morris, PharmD, was nominated by owner and pharmacist at the Manning Pharmacy, Bob Stessman, and was selected from four nominees. Prior to coming to MRHC, Stessman had hired Morris to be the “face of the pharmacy” as well as to drive planning and to engineer any changes. But it was not just her strong work ethic and achievements at the Manning Pharmacy that led to Stessman’s nomination. “Jen is dedicated when it comes to ‘getting it right’ and is very hands on with all departments,” Stessman wrote. “She created a first-class pharmacy department while creating a collaborative environment with administrative, medical and support staff. Along with her regular duties, she is a resource for nursing staff throughout the hospital. Several times a week she advises and educates the staff on subjects relating to pharmacy and how actions affect the outcomes of the patient. […] She is a dynamo with making sure we are all on the same page.” A special reception for Morris was recently held at MRHC and she will officially be presented the award at the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) annual meeting in September.
