A teenage driver escaped serious injury in a rollover accident Monday morning. The Iowa State Patrol reports they responded to the scene near the intersection of 235th Street and Quint Avenue, east of Jefferson, at approximately 7:45 a.m. A 14-year-old female from Grand Junction was westbound on 235th Street in a 2008 Ford F-150 when the tires dropped off onto the gravel shoulder while negotiating a curve. The driver overcorrected, crossing the center line, then overcorrected a second time, entering the west ditch at an angle and striking a fence before rolling onto the passenger side. There were possible minor injuries, but the driver was not transported for treatment. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage to the Ford, $600 in damage to a fence and the driver was cited for failure to maintain control. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and Jefferson Fire Department assisted at the scene.
