Coon Rapids Man Indicted Wednesday For Threatening Officer And Witness With Sword

A Coon Rapids man accused of threatening a police officer and bystander with a sword was indicted today (Wednesday) in Carroll County District Court. Forty-one-year-old Ryan Patrick McAlister is charged with going armed with intent, a class D felony, and first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, following his May 31 arrest. According to a Coon Rapids Police Department affidavit, McAlister was found in the 200 block of 1st Avenue wielding the medieval weapon. Authorities say he threatened to cut off a witness and police officer’s head during the incident. McAlister remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $50,000 bond. His arraignment hearing is slated for Thursday, June 24. He faces up to seven years in prison and $13,750 in fines.
