The Carroll Public Library is already two weeks into their summer reading program, but organizers say there is still plenty of time to get yourself and your family signed up to participate. According to Library Director, Rachel Van Erdewyk, the theme for this year’s program is “Reading Colors Your World,” which can be interpreted however readers see fit.
Van Erdewyk adds they are excited to have people coming back to the library after in-person events were cancelled last year due to COVID restrictions on gatherings. A new aspect of Carroll’s reading program is the incorporation of a novel way for readers to track their progress throughout the summer. It is an app called “Beanstack” that allows participants to log their reading, check off activities and more through their phone or tablet.
Registration can also be completed in person at the library. Another change this year is prizes will be awarded at the end of the program, which is Saturday, Aug. 14. The prizes will be available to be picked up the following week. Van Erdewyk notes they also have several fun activities planned for the library’s younger patrons this summer, both online and in person.
The library’s page is www.carroll-library.org, and a link can also be found included with this story on our website. Van Erdewyk encourages anybody with questions about the summer reading program to stop in to talk with the staff directly or call at 712-792-3432.
