Logan Sibenaller scored in the 1st inning for Kuemper though they didn’t pick up a hit in the inning. Kuemper would finish with 9 hits but weren’t able to generate much offense and Lewis Central hit the ball all game and were able to hit with runners on and got the hits in bunches as they cruise past Kuemper in game 1. Lewis Central scored 2 in the 1st inning and never trailed. They added 2 more in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th and then erupted late with 4-runs in the 6th and 3 more, highlighted by a 2-run home run by Aron Harrington. Kuemper had chances leaving at least 1 runner on base in every inning and 11 on base for the game. The Titans scored 14 runs but also left 7 more guys on base.

Austin Tigges had a pair of hits including a double down the left field line. Trevor Rial had 2 hits and a pair of RBI on a single in the 5th and Max Irlmeier also had two hits and a double. Austin Tigges took the loss and combined with Michael Pottebaum to allow 14 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 6 and walking 5.

Kuemper bounced back nicely in game 2 getting a great pitching performance from Cal Wanninger and the top of the order came through with five o of the teams six hits and scoring three of their five runs. Kuemper got a valuable run in the bottom 1st as Luke Hicks walked and Blake Pottebaum singled setting up Hicks to score on a passed ball. Lewis Central took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd inning and added a run in the 4th but Kuemper had the answer. Max Irlmeier was hit-by-a-pitch and Koby Lampman walked setting up a 2 RBI double by Luke Hicks to tie the game. The Knights took the lead in the 5th when Blake Pottebaum and Austin Tigges each singled and both scored on errors on the catcher. Cal Wanninger did the rest of the job on the hill and Blake Pottebaum came in to seal the deal.

Cal Wanninger went 6 1/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts. Blake Pottebaum picked up the save and had 3 hits. Luke Hicks had 2 RBI.

Kuemper moves to 9-4 overall and 7-3 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Knights travel to Harlan on Thursday.

Carroll At Storm Lake

Carroll scored first on Tuesday but the rest of the game didn’t go well for the Tigers as they fell in 5 innings. The Tigers picked up one hit on the night and the defense committed 4 errors which led the 4 unearned runs for Storm Lake. Storm Lake blew the game open with a 7-run 3rd inning after the game was tied at 1 heading into the bottom 3rd.

Ryan Johnston had a triple for the only hit on the night and picked up an RBI. Slade Sibenaller drove in the other run for Carroll. Ty Nissen and Treyton Goins scored.

Carroll will host Gilbert on Wednesday.

Missouri Valley At IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning got a pair of home runs and had at least 8 hits as the offense played well against Missouri Valley. The Big Red were tough on offense as well scoring 16 runs. The Wolves scored 4-runs in both the 3rd and 7th innings but gave up 6-runs to Missouri Valley in the 3rd and 7th innings.

IKM-Manning trailed 8-4 heading to the 5th inning.

Max Nielsen and Hayden McLaughlin each had home runs. Nielsen added a double and 3 RBI while McLauglin added 2 RBI, Brody Blom and Lane Sams each had two hits and scored.

The Wolves have dropped 7 straight and sit 2-11 overall and 2-9 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to Woodward Granger on Wednesday.

One bad inning late hurt Audubon as they had a chance to knock of the league leader at home. The Wheelers trailed 5-3 going into the 6th inning but a couple miscues helped the Eagles score 4 insurance runs. The Wheelers tried to battle back in the 7th but came up short. Both teams scored early as the offenses were clicking.  The Eagles score 2-run in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd and 2 more in the 3rd. Audubon responded with 2-runs in the 1st and one in the 2nd but didn’t score again until the 7th.

The Wheelers finished with 8 hits and had 7 different guys get a hit. Aiden Alt led the offensive attack with a pair of hits, including a double and 2 RBI. Braden Wessel also doubled and scored. Cooper Nielsen pitched well going 3 innings, allowing just 2 hits and no earned runs.

The Wheelers fall to 6-6 overall and 5-6 in the Western Iowa Conference. They host Treynor on Wednesday.
