A Hastings man arrested last week for driving while barred now faces additional charges after trying to conceal his identity from law enforcement during a traffic stop. According to Carroll County District Court records, local law enforcement conducted a stop on a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban when the driver was seen without a seatbelt. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Tristan Michael Herrera, provided a false name and date of birth to the officer during the stop. Authorities later learned Herrera had been barred from driving in Iowa. He was booked into the Carroll County jail on the aggravated misdemeanor and for providing false identification information, a simple misdemeanor. Herrera remained in custody as of Friday afternoon.
