Lila Potthoff of Halbur

Lila Potthoff, 90 of Halbur, died, Saturday, June 19, 2021 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The Celebrant will be Fr. Shinoj Jose. Music will be by Julie Sibbel and the St. Augustine Choir. Mass Servers will be Owen Nepple and Grant Nepple.  Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Phil Markway. Gift Bearers and Honorary Casket Bearers will be Lila’s granddaughters: Heather Ryan, Shannon Lewis, Larron Potthoff, Jennifer Drees, Mandi Denner, Tamie Drees, Stephanie Hospelhorn, Rachael Falke, and Madison Ware. Casket Bearers will be Lila’s grandsons: Jay Ryan, Travis Drees, Justin Drees, Christopher Potthoff, Adam Potthoff, Aaron Falke, Josh Potthoff, and Jonah Potthoff. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning at the church.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Lila’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Born on February 11, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa, Lila was the daughter of Percy and Elvera (Kaus) Davis. She spent her younger years in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School. On October 16, 1951, Lila was united in marriage to Merle Potthoff at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Following their marriage, the couple made their home northeast of Halbur.  Lila was a devoted homemaker, housewife and assisted her husband with their farming operation.  She enjoyed life on the farm, gardening, playing cards, baking, writing poems, vacationing, and hosting various family gatherings. Lila was a member of St. Augustine Parish and Parish Ladies Guild.
Left to celebrate Lila’s life are her 7 children: Sharon Ryan of Perry, Nancy (Patrick) Monjarez of Omaha, Michael Potthoff of Panora, Joan (Randy) Drees of Carroll, John (Gail) Potthoff of Halbur, Brenda (Jim) Falke of Omaha, and Mark (Jane) Potthoff of Polk City; 17 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Arlene Rupiper of Carroll, Lois Hinners of Carroll, Joyce Wright of Carroll and Betty Potthoff of Manning; brother-in-law: Danny Rowedder of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Merle in 2019; her sisters: Evelyn Wiederien and Lois Lambertz; her brother Harold Davis; and a brother in infancy, Donald Davis.
