Kuemper Wins Big, East Sac Tops AWV, Carroll, IKM-Manning and Audubon Fall in Thursday Softball

East Sac scored 4-runs in the 5th inning with 2 outs and picked up their 11th win of the season. Ar-We-Va continued to push the top teams on their schedule but fell short and drop to 500 on the season. Aleisha Thayer singled to start a 2 out rally in the 5th inning. Her base hit was followed by a single from Emersyn Mack, Maty Quirk reached on an error, Mary Bontrager singled and Laryn Sharp drove in the final two runs of the 4-run inning with a single. The Raiders lead went from 1-0 to 5-0 before the Rockets could get out of the inning. Mack, Bontrager and Sharp all drove in runs during the rally.

Ar-We-Va only mustered 3 hits against Shelby Geery but had some chances to score. Jadeyn Smith had a leadoff single in the 2nd inning but Maty Quirk started a 5-3-6 double play that stopped a rally. The Rockets also had Hannah Kraus on 2nd and Sara Schurke at 1st base in the 4th inning but Quirk fielded a ball at 3rd base and fed the shortstop Aleisha Thayer at 3rd for the force out at 3rd and a pop up for the 3rd out got the Raiders out of trouble. East Sac opened the door with back to back errors in the 7th inning but Geery again forced a couple pop ups in the infield to secure the win. The Raiders out hit the Rockets 7 to 3. The Rockets had 3 errors, allowing 4 unearned runs while East Sac had 2 errors but didn’t allow a run.

Mary Bontrager was outstanding at the plate and led the Raiders with 3 hits. Emersyn Mack drove in a pair of runs, scored a run and stole a pair of bases. Laryn Sharp drove in a pair of runs. Shelby Geery got the win going 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and no walks with 4 strikeouts.

Hannah Kraus, Sara Schurke and Jadeyn Smith all had base hits for Ar-We-Va. Smith pitched well in the loss giving up 7 hits in 7 innings with 1 earned run. She walked 1 and struck out 1.

East Sac sits 10-6 as they head to West Bend Mallard on Friday. Ar-We-Va drops to 7-7 and will host CAM Anita on Friday.

Tri Center At Audubon

Audubon had been playing so well winning all six game last week but not much went there way especially early on Thursday. Tri Center scored a run in each of the first two innings, then took a 6-0 lead heading to the bottom 4th. Kali Irlmeier singled for the Wheelers in the 4th and Michelle Brooks came in to run and scored on a double by Johanna Sauers. Audubon wouldn’t score again until the 7th when Mattie Nielsen singled, scoring Jordan Sauers who led off the inning with her 2nd double. The Wheelers struggled to string hits together but finished with 7 hits.

Johanna Sauers doubled twice for the Wheelers and finished with 2 hits. Kali Irlmeier also had a pair of hits and Sydney Beymer doubled. Mattie Nielsen singled driving in a run. Irlmeier took the loss going all 7 innings with 13 hits and 1 earned run.

Audubon falls to 13-7 overall and 9-7 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers look to bounce back Friday At Earlham.

AHSTW At IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning continued to show improvement and battled with AHSTW who picked up their 14th win of the season. The Wolves had runners on base if four of the five innings and had five runners in scoring position with two runners reaching 2nd base. They finished the night with 2 hits and scored a run. AHSTW scored in four of the five innings, getting 4-runs in the 3rd  with single runs in the 1st and 4th innings and 5-runs in the 5th inning.

Ella Richards and Lexi Gruhn both had base hits for IKM-Manning who fell to 0-17 overall and 0-17 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wolves host Kuemper Wednesday.

Carroll At Carlisle

The game was called in the bottom 5th inning due to a lightening game and the potential for more storms it was considered a final score with Carlisle leading Carroll 5-0. The Tigers continue to show improvement against the conference the second time through the schedule. Carlisle scored in four of the five innings but never scored more than two runs in an inning as Carroll played well on defense and got a solid pitching performance from Cam Schable and Alyssa Brant.

Averi Burke picked up the lone hit for the Tigers and Ava Gross worked out a walk for their other base runner. Carroll pitched Cam Schable and Alyssa Brant with Schable taking the loss, going 3 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Brant pitched the final 1 1/3 innings allowing just 1 earned run.

The loss drops Carroll to 11-16 overall and 0-13 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll heads to the Roland Story Tournament on Saturday and will play AGWSR At 2:00 and Roland Story At 4:00.

St Albert At Kuemper

Kuemper had two big innings but that is all it took as they picked up 10 hits and scored 11-runs in a five inning win. The Knights opened up the game in the 3rd inning with 4-runs and then ended the game with a 6-run 5th inning. Kuemper had seven different players get a base hit and all nine batters got on base with all nine scoring at least 1 run. The Kuemper defense was really good behind Chloe Venteicher who stranded five St Albert runners on base while Kuemper only left three girls on base.

Hailey Ostrander and Jordan Schwabe helped set the tempo for the Knights on offense. Ostrander led the team with 3 hits including a double. She scored 3 times and drove in 2 RBI. Jordan Schwabe only had 1 hit but it was a 3-run home run to ignite the bench. Kenadee Loew added a pair of base hits, a double and drove in 2 runs. Kenzie Schon and Kamry Venner also doubled as the Knights had four doubles. Venner added a pair of RBI. Chloe Venteicher gets the win going all 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 2.

The Knights improve to 15-10 overall and 8-5 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. They host conference leader Atlantic on Friday.
