For The Third Straight Week, Natural Gas Prices Climb While Motor Fuels Remain Relatively Stable

Increases in the price of natural gas continue to outpace that of motor fuels over the past week. According to AAA Iowa, as of Wednesday the price of regular unleaded and retail diesel were up a penny over the past week. Unleaded averaged $2.89 per gallon across Iowa, which is $.84 higher than one year ago. The national average is at $3.07, down a penny over the week. Diesel prices averaged $3.06 per gallon, $.16 less than the national average of $3.22 and $.86 higher than a year ago. Wholesale ethanol prices rose two cents to $2.48. Natural gas prices were up again, this time $.06 higher, now averaging $3.33 per MMbtu.
