Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene of a two-vehicle collision just east of Carroll Thursday afternoon. A report from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office states the accident occurred at approximately 3:19 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Olympic Avenue. According to their initial investigation, a student driver, identified as 14-year-old Jack Earl Gullet of Lake View, was stopped facing northbound on Olympic in a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, and failed to yield to an eastbound 2000 Ford Excursion, driven by 39-year-old Amanda Jane Johns of Jefferson. The Ford collided with the rear driver’s side of the van and continued east, striking a signpost and coming to rest in the south ditch. The Chevrolet was disabled after the crash and came to rest facing northbound in the intersection. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but there was an estimated $4,500 in damage to the van and $2,500 to the Johns’ SUV.
