Carroll Baseball Cancelled, SCC Postponed, Area Teams Go 0-4 on Friday

Carroll At Webster City

Carroll got a solo home run from Slade Sibenaller in the 1st inning but the game was cancelled after 1 inning of play due to the weather and won’t be made up so no stats count.

Game was postponed shortly before 6:00 and will be made up at a later date.

 

CAM Anita At Ar-We-Va

Ar-We-Va dropped their 2nd straight as CAM Anita hit the ball well in picking up a 5 inning win. The Rockets had six baserunners and two hits and had runners in scoring position in three of the five innings but only scored in the bottom 5th. Damon Ehlers doubled in the 2nd inning but was thrown out at 3rd as part of a double play. Cooper Kock singled in the 4th but was forced out at 2nd on a fielder’s choice. Conner Kirsch moved to 2nd later in the 4th when Damon Ehlers was hit by a pitch. Ar-We-Va broke through in the 5th when Jeffrey Molina walked and scored on a pair of wild pitches. CAM Anita hit the ball well with 8 hits including a pair of home runs by Lane Spieker. Spieker hit a 2-run shot in the 1st inning and added a 3-run shot in the 4th. The Cougars scored in every inning but the 2nd.

Damon Ehlers had a double and Cooper Kock singled for the Rockets hits. Kock takes the loss going 3 2/3 innings with 6 hits and 10 runs allowed. He struck out 5. Jeffrey Molina scored the lone run.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 8-6 overall and 7-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They sit in 5th place in the league and will host 3rd place Woodbine on Monday.  The Tigers are 10-4 in league play.

Glidden Ralston At Woodbine

Mark Lensch picked up the lone hit for the Wildcats as they fell on the road on Friday. Holden Hein also reached base with a walk. The Wildcats threw four pitchers who combined to allow 3 hits and 15 runs with 8 walks and a strikeout.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-13 overall and 1-11 in the Rolling Valley.

Audubon At Earlham

The tough luck continued for Audubon on Friday as they played well but came up inches short from scoring the tying run and dropped their 10th game in their last 11 tries. The Wheelers had the tying run 2nd base in the 7th inning and got a shot off the bat of Joel Klocke, but a diving catch by Earlham at 2nd base ended the ballgame. Audubon had taken the lead with a 2-run 5th inning when Joel Klocke and Braden Wessel knocked in Jay Remsburg and Evan Alt. Joel Klocke was in control on the mound but Earlham was able to string together a few hits in the bottom 5th and scored three times to take the lead. That lead held up the rest of the game.

Ethan Klocke and Cooper Nielsen had the hits for Audubon with Nielsen doubling. Braden Wessel and Joel Klocke had RBI and Jay Remsburg and Evan Alt scored their two runs. Joel Klocke took the loss going 4 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 3 earned runs.

Audubon falls to 7-13 overall and 6-10 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers host Treynor on Monday. The Cardinals are 3rd in the WIC at 11-4 heading into Friday action.

East Sac played well and got a good pitching performance from Dylan Meredith but fell just short on Friday. The Raiders were tied heading into the bottom 6th but allowed a pair of runs as West Bend Mallard had been able to put the bat on the ball. The Raiders were unable to score in the 7th and dropped their 3rd straight. Both teams scored in the 1st inning with Karter Ludwig scoring for East Sac. Pitching and defense took over as neither team scored until the 6th.

East Sac finished with four hits with Karter Ludwig, Caleb Villhauer, Aden Vondrak and Brock Mandernatch all picking up a hit. Dylan Meredith took the loss, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 5.

The Raiders fall to 2-12 overall and 1-9 in the Twin Lakes Conference. East Sac steps out of conference play and hosts Ridge View on Monday.
