Coon Rapids Man Accused Of Threatening Police Officer And Witness With Sword Scheduled For Trial In August

A Coon Rapids man accused of threatening a police officer and witness with a sword at the end of May has been scheduled for trial in August. On Thursday, 41-year-old Ryan Patrick McAlister pled not guilty to one count of going armed with intent, a clas00s D felony, and first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. His jury trial start date is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 10 with a pretrial conference on July 22. The charges stem from a May 31 incident in the 200 block of 1st Avenue in Coon Rapids. According to law enforcement, McAlister is accused of standing in the street with the blade and threatening to cut the heads off a police officer and witness. As of Friday, McAlister remained in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $50,000 bond. He faces up to seven years in prison and nearly $14,000 in fines if found guilty of the charges.
