Bringing Carroll PD Back To Full Force, Sanitary Sewer Rates And The Corridor Of Commerce Plan Are On Monday’s Carroll Council Agenda

The Carroll Police Department was happy to report Officer Patrick McCarty has been returned to full duty following a serious injury sustained while in the process of arresting a fugitive out of Illinois on March 5. However, the department is down two officers. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says the council has been presented with a civil service eligibility list and will likely approve it this coming Monday as part of the consent agenda for their regular meeting. After further screening, two from that list will be made offers. The council will also consider a rezoning request.

The discussion on equity in sanitary sewer service charges will be brought back. The proposal is to adopt a rate schedule that will cover operation and maintenance as well as capital expenditures along with that equity over a 10-year span. The first three years will have all users at a 1.4 percent increase for the first two and one year at 1.3 percent. Significant Industrial users (SIU) category one will see 12. 2, 9.2 and 11 percent increases respectively and SIU category two will have 25.5, 20.2, and 15.5 percent increases. They will then again return to capacity at the wastewater treatment plant.

There will be a public hearing on the Corridor of Commerce 2.0 plan.

The council will also discuss replacing some basketball hoops at the Carroll Rec Center now because of current problems. These will then be integrated into the upgrades planned for the Rec Center in the coming year. The meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall. Eight individuals are allowed in as spectators or presenters. All others are asked to watch the meeting on public access cable or to join via telephone or computer. Details on how to do that as well as the full packet of materials and agenda can be found below.
