Coon Rapids Bayard fell to Class 3A Carlisle on Saturday at Johnston Middle School as part of the Brent Prange Tournament. The Crusaders fell down 5-1 in the 5th inning but nearly rallied back getting the bases loaded with 2 outs but were unable to score. Carlisle added to their lead down the stretch scoring 2 more runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th. The Crusaders had 6 errors that led to 4 unearned runs for Carlisle.
Lance Clayburg was named Player of the Game for Coon Rapids Bayard and had a pair of hits including a double. Kolby Culbertson added a single that drove in Tanner Oswald with the Crusaders run in the 5th. Easton Hays, Kolby Culbertson and Gabe Obert had the other 3 hits for Coon Rapids Bayard.
The loss drops Coon Rapids Bayard to 17-6 overall. They travel to West Harrison on Monday. The Hawkeyes are currently in 4th in the Rolling Valley Conference at 8-5 while CRB sits in 2nd place at 11-3.
