The 712 Women on a Mission have selected the Carroll Summer Fun Camp as the latest recipient of their quarterly donations. Ann Slechta, one of the group’s founding members, explains how non-profit organizations are nominated and selected.
The Carroll Summer Fun Camp was created to bring children on the autism spectrum together with other kids in the community and has grown in popularity year after year. The donated money will be used to help fund the camp staff’s pay and the campers’ day-to-day activities. Slechta says there are many local non-profits in need of funds and it is a challenge to select only one each quarter.
The 712 Women on a Mission presented the $6,100 check, which is the organization’s largest contribution to date, to the Carroll Summer Fun Camp staff and campers this (Monday) morning. Their first meeting was in January 2020, and the group has already donated more than $30,000 in the 18 months since.
Slechta says 712 Women on a Mission is still a young organization, and they are looking for women interesting in becoming a part of their efforts.
