An outreach arm of the Methodist Church, called Midwest Missions, is working on aiding those around the world who have suffered through a disaster. Member, Jeff Honold, explains what the group has identified as their focus for this year—the floods, the hurricanes, the tornadoes, etc.
A mission trip is being planned and collections will be taken locally before that trip.
Honold says that local churches are also partnering with them to gather these donations.
The main distribution center is in Illinois and Honold will be personally driving what is collected to that point. He says Midwest Missions has been helping out others for years with these buckets and through help at disaster sites.
For the second half of July, they will be focusing on gathering donations of personal hygiene items. More details on exactly what is needed will be released at a later date.
