Kuemper split the doubleheader winning the first game and falling in the second game. The Knights slipped out of first place in the Hawkeye 10 Conference and know trail Lewis Central by a game in the race. The Titans swept a doubleheader from Shenandoah. Kuemper improved to 17-6 overall and 15-4 in the Hawkeye 10. Lewis Central is 14-3 in the conference, St Albert is 14-5 and Denison Schleswig is 13-5.
A late push in game 1 carried the Knights to the win. They scored 5 times in the 7th inning to break open a tie game. Luke Hicks started the run with a single, Benicio Lujano walked, Max Irlmeier reached on a fielders choice and Koby Lampman singled to score two runs. After Logan Sibenaller worked out a walk, Blake Pottebaum doubled to score two more runs and Austin Tigges finished the scoring with a triple. The Knights had gone up early, scoring in each of the first three innings. Glenwood tied the game scoring a pair of runs in the 4th and 6th innings.
Blake Pottebaum had a big game picking up the win on the hill, going 6 innings, allowing 10 hits and 2 earned runs. Pottebaum had 3 hits with a double, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Austin Tigges tripled for one of his two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Max Irlmeier added a pair of hits and Logan Sibenaller scored 3 times along with closing out the 7th innings and striking out two batters.
Glenwood opened game 2 with a 5-run 1st inning before Kuemper cut it to a 1-run game heading into the bottom 3rd. Kuemper scored three times in the 3rd inning on a sac fly by Luke Hicks and a two run single by Trevor Rial. Glenwood added a run in the 3rd but Kuemper again rallied and tied the game on a sac fly by Logan Sibenaller and a RBI single by Blake Pottebaum, scoring Benicio Lujano and Max Irlmeier. They got runners on in the and 6th but weren’t able to score. Glenwood pulled away with 2-runs in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th.
Blake Pottebaum continued his good night at the plate with 3 hits, Luke Hicks added a pair of 2 hits. Trevor Rial drove in 3-runs.
Kuemper will be back in action on Monday against Denison Schleswig.

Carroll started quickly on the road but couldn’t keep the momentum going as they lost in 6 innings to Ballard. Slade Sibenaller doubled to score Tory Feldman in the 1st inning and then scored on a single by Colby Christensen. Carroll led 2-0 going bottom 1st. That would be their last lead and their last hits in the game as Ballard shut down a strong Carroll offense. The Bombers scored 5 times in the 1st inning and then added a pair of runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. They ended the game with a run in the 6th.
Slade Sibenaller and Colby Christensen had both of the Tigers hits. Ryan Johnston, Ethan Loew and Dreylen Schweitzer combined on the hill to allow 9 hits and 6 earned runs. Carroll had 5 errors which led to 6 unearned runs.
The loss drops Carroll to 11-14 overall and 5-12 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers are off until Monday when they travel to Winterset who was 14-10 and 8-9 as of Thursday.

IKM-Manning won the high scoring affair as both teams scored in every inning they batted in. The Titans finished with 13 hits which included home runs by Kevin King and Brennan Holder and Keegan Soard had 2 triples. The Wolves countered with 11 hits that was highlighted by a triple from Amos Rasmussen and doubles by Max Nielsen, Connor Richards, Hayden McLauglin and Kaiden Barry. The difference may have been on the mound. IKM-Manning got solid performances from Connor Richards and Amos Rasmussen as they didn’t walk anyone. The Titans pitched three guys and they combined to walk 9 guys and hit another batter. The Wolves hurt themselves with 7 errors and IKM-Manning had 5 errors. IKM-Manning allowed 5 unearned runs. South Central Calhoun gave up 6 unearned runs.
Connor Richards started on the hill for the Wolves and helped himself in the bottom 1st with a 2-run double. That put the Wolves up 3-1 after the 1st inning. The Titans kept the pressure on scoring in the top of every inning and finally took the lead in the 4th when Kevin King hit a 3-run home run that put them up 8-6. IKM-Manning responded right away, sending 10 batters to the plate in the bottom half. They scored 5 runs, benefiting from 2 Titan errors that kept the inning going. The Wolves also worked out four walks in the inning. The Wolves took the lead and never relinquished it again. South Central Calhoun tied the game with a 3-run 5th inning. The Wolves defense had back to back errors setting up RBI opportunities that Evan Jacobs and Andrew Anderson took advantage of. Amos Rasmussen earned a walk in the 5th and stole 2nd base before scoring on a wild pitch to give the Wolves the lead for good. Rasmussen and Max Nielsen picked up RBI in the bottom 6th increasing the lead from one to three.
Amos Rasmussen paced the Wolves attack with 3 hits, a triple, 3 RBI and 4-runs scored. Conner Richards, Hayden McLaughlin and Kaiden Barry all had 2 hits for the Wolves. Richards added 3 RBI. Reed Hinners, Hayden McLaughlin and Brody Blom all scored twice while Richards scored 3 times. Connor Richards went 3 2/3 innings and gave up 8 hits and 8 runs with 8 strikeouts. Amos Rasmussen picked up the win, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing 5 hits and 5 runs.
Cody Thompson and Evan Jacobs each had 3 hits for South Central Calhoun, Jacobs drove in a pair of runs and Thompson scored twice to go with a double. Keegan Soard had a pair of triples and scored 3 times. Kevin King added a 3-run home run and Brennan Holder led off the 6th inning with a shot over the left field wall.
The win moves IKM-Manning to 6-17 while South Central Calhoun falls to 1-19. The Wolves host Griswold on Monday while South Central Calhoun heads to East Sac on Friday.

It took a while but Coon Rapids Bayard picked up a bounce back win against a quality 2A team. The Crusaders were coming off a tough loss to an Ogden team that is in their district on Wednesday. They led 2-0 heading into the 5th inning when the bats erupted. Coon Rapids Bayard finished with 11 hits and had 10 RBI. They out hit SE Valley 11-4. A 3-run 5th opened up their lead but the 5-runs in the 6th inning clinched the win.
Lance Clayburg was huge at the plate with 3 hits, a 3-run home run and 6 RBI. Josh Ramirez and Kolby Culbertson both added 3 hits with Culbertson scoring 3 tims and Ramirez adding 3 RBI. Easton Hays scored twice. Quentin Culbertson picked up the win going 6 innings with 4 hits and 6 strikeouts.
The Crusaders move to 19-8 overall and will host Glidden Ralston on Friday.

Audubon took advantage of eleven walks and two hit-by-pitches to help them score 11 runs in 6 innings. The Wheelers exploded for seven runs in the 3rd inning to blow open a tight game. They were finally able to catch a few bounces and finished the game with 5 hits. The Wheelers played well on defense and didn’t have any situations where their limited mistakes hurt them. They scored a pair of runs in the 2nd inning which helped them build a 9-0 lead after 3 innings. AC-GC got on the board in the 4th but Audubon ended the game with 2-runs in the 6th.
Gavin Smith paced the offense with a pair of hits, including a double, 2 RBI and 2-runs scored. Joel KLocke took advantage of being walked 3 times by stealing 3 bases and scoring all 3 times. Gavin Larsen, Braden Wessel and Cooper Nielsen all finished with 2 RBI. Larsen earned the win going 3 1/3 innings with only 1 hit allowed and 1 earned run. Braden Wessel pitched the last 1 2/3 innings.
Audubon moves to 8-14 overall and will host West Harrison on Monday.
