Keep Iowa Beautiful has announced the start of their 12th annual Keep Iowa Beautiful Photography contest and are inviting residents to snap pictures of their favorite places in the state. The deadline to submit entries into the two-phase contest is Dec. 18 with five categories: Iowa landscape, Iowa water, Iowa cities, Iowans in action and Iowa wildlife. The top photos in each category will be selected by a panel of judges with $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third. Then, from Jan. 17 to Jan. 31, the first-place winners will be showcased on Keep Iowa Beautiful social media pages for voting on Public Favorite Photo, which comes with an additional $100 award. The Robert D. Ray Best of Show entry, determined by a panel of judges, will also be announced at the end of public voting with $500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third.
