Two Storm Lake residents were killed in a three-motorcycle accident Friday. The Iowa State Patrol reports the incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. on County Road C65, near 90th Avenue south of Storm Lake. Thirty-nine-year-old Luis Angel Garcia Contreras, 28-year-old Phya Soe Aung and 30-year-old Martin De Jesus Cruz were all westbound on C65 on motorcycles, a 2020 Honda, a 2013 Honda and a 2005 Yamaha respectively. Garcia Contreras slowed and negotiated a U-turn, but turned into Aung’s path and was struck by the 2013 Honda. Cruz was unable to avoid a collision with Aung. Aung and Cruz died at the scene. Garcia Contreras was transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center by Storm Lake Emergency Medical Services. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
