It has been a full year since a trio of Carroll natives have been able to rock a live crowd, but Kyler Brinker, Miles Millard and Teddy Ramaekers of Bad Authority are back, opening for Night Ranger this Friday at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. Guitarist and front man, Brinker, says this event brings him full circle.
Brinker says Bad Authority has played at the National Historic Landmark three times in the past, most recently opening for Gene Simmons in 2018. He says every time has been a blast and he is sure Friday night will be no different.
The band members make sure to update a special feature during events.
Brinker says they have not yet met any of the members of Night Ranger, but they are all looking forward to making a connection and gathering insights.
Bad Authority has been working on new songs, but Brinker is not sure if they will debut any this week. However, they are planning a trip into the studio in the very near future. Friday’s show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $34 in advance and $39 at the door and can be purchased by following the link included below. Brinker had been attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., but returned to Carroll when the pandemic hit. He graduated at home with a degree in music business. Ramaekers was with Brinker in Nashville, but transferred recently to Iowa State University and is set to graduate in about a year with a degree in business management. Millard graduated from the Institute for Production and Recording in Minneapolis, Minn. last year and continues to live in the Twin Cities. Bad Authority will be playing across the state the rest of this year with dates set at Prairie Meadows in August, Okoboji in October opening for Quiet Riot, a local event near Carroll in September and more.
