As we draw closer to the return of state baseball to Merchants Park, the Carroll City Council will be asked to approve a resolution providing “start-up” cash in the amount of $2,400 for concession stand operations. The request is included in the consent agenda for Monday’s council meeting and explains that both the Carroll and Kuemper High School Booster Clubs will be operating concession stands July 26 through July 30. The city is to act as the fiscal agent and will be tracking all revenues and expenses. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says they will have the second reading on a rezoning request on West Street before council members are asked to revisit the proposed increases to sanitary sewer service charges that includes the first three-years of the rate structure on the 10-year plan. That is included in the meeting packet, available below. A public hearing is also scheduled on Monday night.
The original CDBG allocation in 2019 was for five owner-occupied housing rehabilitation projects for a total of $210,500. Contract amendments are needed to address an additional allocation of $10,000 and a sixth project. Pogge-Weaver says the council will also be reviewing another annexation proposal.
Pogge-Weaver adds they are asking the council for direction on whether or not they would like to extend the sewer services out that far with options that could add up to an estimated $900,000. Pella is currently on the city sewer line, but it is in the northwest corner of that property and there is quite a distance to be covered to extend it out to the former Rueter’s Implement building. Monday’s meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers. These meetings are still available through telephonic and digital means and will be broadcast live on local access cable, CAAT6. Details for joining the meeting in that manner and the agenda and packet can be found by following the included link.
