A Storm Lake man wanted for felony assault surrendered to local authorities Tuesday. The Storm Lake Police Department reports they were called to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at approximately 2 a.m. on Monday, July 5 to investigate severe facial injuries suffered by a patient who had arrived at the Emergency Room. The victim told police that earlier in the evening of July 4, he was involved in an altercation with 18-year-old Luth Dak at Awaysis Park. The altercation became physical and Dak allegedly struck the unconscious victim several times in the face, causing severe injuries. Police also allege Dak struck a female in the face with his fists as she was trying to intervene. Attempts to locate Dak immediately following the incident report were unsuccessful. On Tuesday, July 13, at approximately 3 p.m., Dak surrendered at the Storm Lake Police Department. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail and held on a $10,000 bond for charges of assault causing serious injuries, a class D felony, fourth-degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor, and simple assault, a simple misdemeanor. As of this (Wednesday) morning, Dak remained in custody.
